The Woman Behind the Idea
I have always been drawn to the outdoors, the dirt, the shades of blue and green, the scent of the forest. It took me a while to realize that I was happiest with my bare feet in the grass, my hands in the soil, my heart in the breeze, and my face to the sun. In the controlled chaos of a life shared with a husband, five children, a multitude of pets and a host of plants, there came a point when we all grew older and up and I found myself feeling adrift. I asked myself, what (besides the obvious answer of “family”) brings you joy?
I took out a notebook and wrote down four words: nature, art, animals, children. Actually, it was something more like: nature in all its forms, art in many forms, animals always, and the laughter of children.
That was the beginning whisper of an idea to combine as many of those joyful parts as possible into something meaningful. That was the spark that led to Sharing Meraki. What better way to awaken senses and purpose than to share the wonders of art and nature in an artisan shop dedicated to spreading creativity with soul and love? I dusted off my wildlife science degree, refreshed my art supplies, and started down a path of discovery that continues to amaze. Turns out, humans who treasure art and nature are passionate and generous and full of kindness.
The Sharing Meraki team is green and learning, but so excited to be able to produce and curate a wide range of artistic pieces from creators both local and afar. Our hope is that, as you visit our shop, you will experience moments that energize, uplift, and inspire.
The Luna Moth Logo
Luna moths are nocturnal moths, and their name derives from the Latin word for moon. They are breathtakingly beautiful, but the thing that really drew us to them as a symbol is that they represent hope, transformation, and the promise of new beginnings. They are associated with creativity and a connection to deep emotion. Do you see now why they speak to us? They are the perfect image to walk alongside us on this journey and a lovely reminder to live for the present moment.
